Here we provide the chronological facts and incidents 1600 when the East Indian Company was started in India to 1947 when Lord Mountbatten planned for India’s Freedom.

1600: East India Company was setup.  
1611: William Hawkins visited India in the court of Jahangir during Mughal period.
1615-1618: Thomas Row visited the court of Jahangir during Mughal period.
1757: The Battle of Plassey was fought.
1764: Battle of Buxar was fought.
1765: Industrial revolution in England
1765: East India Company acquired ‘dewani’ from Mughal emperor Shah Alam II.
1773: Indian Regulatory Act passed. By this act the post of Governor General was created and Judiciary was separated from the executive (administration).
1774: Imperial Court was setup by this Indian Regulatory Act of 1773 A.D.
1858: Govt. of India Act passed. By this act post of Governor General was abolished and the post of Viceroy created (First viceroy of India was then Lord Canning – he was the last Governor General of India also during East India Company’s administration).
1909: Govt. of India Act, popularly know as Morley-Minto Reforms Act 1909.
1916: Peel Commission (Committee) was setup for the Federal structure of India.
1919: Govt. of India Act, popularly know as Montague Chelmsford Reforms Act 1919.
1927: Simon Commission was setup.
1928: MotilalNeheru submitted his report in the Session of Congress (INC). Popularly know as Neheru Report.
1929: The demand of ‘PurnaSwaraj’ was passed at the Lahore session of Indian National Congress (INC).
1930: JawaharLalNeheru started the ‘PurnaSwaraj’ movement on January 26th.
1935: Govt. of India Act passed.
1942: Crips Mission came to India and submitted Crips Mission Plan.
1942: Quit India Momvement started.
1943: Wavel visited India and proposed Wavel Plan.
1946: Cabinet Mission came to India and placed Cabinet Mission Plan.
1947: Lord Mountbatten planned for India’s Freedom. This plan is popularly know ‘June 3rd Plan’.
